AAS member Bruce D. Popp is the recipient of the S. Edmund Berger Prize for Excellence in Scientific and Technical Translation for his work on a seminal monograph by Henri Poincaré.

The National Academy of Sciences has recognized the IAU President Elect and honorary AAS member for improving our understanding of how molecules, stars, and planets form.

With her selection as a 2018 TED Fellow, Burçin Mutlu-Pakdil joins Carrie Nugent, Aomawa Shields, Jedidah Isler, Renée Hlozek, Hakeem Oluseyi, and Lucianne Walkowicz as a TED "rising star."

Ten AAS members are among the 396 distinguished scientists newly elected as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Nominations are invited on behalf of individuals with achievements in cosmology, genetics, or neuroscience. The nomination deadline is 15 December 2017.

Congratulations to new Nobel laureates Rainer Weiss (MIT), Barry Barish & Kip Thorne (both Caltech), cited "for their decisive contributions to the LIGO detector and the observation of gravitational waves."

The Lecar Prize recognizes exceptional contributions to the study of extrasolar planets in particular and theoretical astrophysics in general. Nominations are now welcome. Deadline: 5 November 2017.

Congratulations to AAS Press Officer Dr. Richard Fienberg on winning the Astronomical Society of the Pacific's Fraknoi Supporters Award for his contributions to public understanding of science through astronomy!

The Kavli Prize is awarded by The Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters for outstanding scientific achievements in Astrophysics, Nanoscience, and Neuroscience. The nomination deadline is 1 December 2017.

The International Astronomical Union is accepting nominations for the 2018 IAU PhD Prize, recognizing outstanding scientific achievements in astronomy by PhD students worldwide. Application deadline: 15 December.
