Membership Support
The AAS is deeply concerned about reductions in force at federal agencies, the cancellation and/or suspension of federal grants, and rumored deep cuts to science funding. Please check back here for updated resources, information, and actions for AAS members during this challenging time.
Author Discounts on AAS Journal Papers
As a member of the AAS who renews (or joins) during the Society's annual renewal drive from early September through December, you are eligible to receive a 15% discount the following year on your share of the author charges for one paper published in an AAS journal, i.e., the Astronomical Journal, the Astrophysical Journal, Letters, or Supplement, or the Planetary Science Journal. Learn how to claim the discount.
Author Publication Support Fund
It is critically important to us that all authors are able to publish quality results in our journals, regardless of their funding situation. To this end, we have developed a substantial AAS Publication Support Fund available to authors under our new open access model that launched 1 January 2022.
Dues Waiver Request
- Request a dues waiver for the 2026 membership year. Those in the community who have not yet renewed their membership for 2026 are welcome to submit a dues waiver. We'll review your form and let you know the next steps.
Meetings Support
The AAS understands that many in our community are navigating the challenges of securing approval for or resources to travel to the next AAS meeting.
Additionally, we will do our best to secure additional housing accommodations for our conference attendees. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected] if you have any questions or require further assistance. We are here to work with you and ensure that your experience at the upcoming AAS meeting is both enriching and supportive.
