Judges Still Needed for Upcoming Chambliss Competition

Gina Brissenden American Astronomical Society (AAS)

We still need about 75 more judges for the 2017 Chambliss Astronomy Achievement Student Awards happening during the 229th AAS meeting in Grapevine, Texas, in January 2017. Volunteers will be asked to evaluate no more than five undergraduate and/or graduate student posters (using a defined set of criteria), on no more than one or two days, and only during the morning coffee breaks and afternoon poster sessions.

We are in particular need of additional full members to sign up to judge, though advanced graduate student who are not entered into the competition may also sign up.

Student poster authors will sincerely appreciate your expertise in judging their work. Judging will occur on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, 4–6 January 2017.

You can easily sign up to volunteer by filling out the online Chambliss Judge Sign-Up Form today! The deadline to sign up is 4 December.

You can find the Chambliss scoring rubrics judges will use, as well as the participant rules, on the Chambliss webpage.

If you have any questions, please contact me via email.

Thank you in advance, and I hope you’ll volunteer!

Sincerely,
Gina Brissenden
