2019 Membership Renewal Reminders on Their Way to Your Mailbox!

Diane Frendak

Diane Frendak American Astronomical Society (AAS)

With 2019 just around the corner, the AAS membership renewal season is in full swing. A renewal reminder from AAS or Division leadership will be arriving in your mailbox soon. Please note that the data set for this mailing was pulled on 11 October, so members and affiliates who renewed from that date forward do not need to pay again. If you still haven't renewed, now is the time: you’ll save big on registrations to the 234th AAS meeting in St. Louis and the 235th meeting in Hawaii and secure your one-time 15% discount on your share of the author charges for one paper published in the Astronomical Journal or the Astrophysical Journal family in 2019.

When renewing, please consider rounding up your dues and making a donation to the AAS funds, prizes, programs, and activities that mean the most to you. All gifts are recognized in the Society’s Annual Report; if you donate $250 or more to any fund, or mix of funds, you’ll be invited to the Donor Reception and Donor Lounge at the 2019 winter and summer meetings. The featured funds in our Fall 2018 Campaign are:

  • AAS Dependent Care Grants
  • AAS FAMOUS Travel Grant Fund
  • AAS General Fund
  • Harlow Shapley Visiting Lectureship
  • Rodger Doxsey Travel Award Fund
  • Carbon Offsets Fund
  • DDA Vera Rubin Early Career Prize Fund
  • DPS Niebur Professional Development Fund
  • HAD Osterbrock Prize Fund
  • HEAD Dissertation Prize Fund
  • LAD Prize Fund
  • SPD SunPy Support Fund

The AAS also accepts donations of appreciated stock, providing you with added tax benefits, and we can help you designate a planned gift to the Society in your estate plan or will. Intellectual property or proceeds from the sales of books or articles are also welcome. Please contact Kevin Marvel for information and assistance in these areas.

If you need an invoice right away or need help logging into your member account, please contact the AAS Membership Team by email or phone at 202-328-2010. Thank you for being part of our community!
