2019 AAS Membership Renewal Starts Now!

AAS

This month marked the American Astronomical Society’s 119th birthday. Will you be part of our community in 2019 when we celebrate 120 years of supporting the astronomical sciences?

We at the AAS truly hope so, because without our members, affiliates, and friends, the AAS would be severely lacking in the “Society” aspect — the bonds that keep us together as we enhance and share humanity’s scientific understanding of the universe.

You can easily maintain this connection by renewing your AAS membership for 2019. Over the last two weeks, we kicked off the renewal campaign with our convenient new “auto login”-enabled email, where you can skip entering your username and password when renewing online. Hold on to this email if you have yet to renew for 2019! The email's auto login feature is active up to 1 January 2019. If you trashed it, fear not. You can log in at any time to check your 2019 membership status, donate to the fall fundraising campaign, or add an AAS Journals subscription or Division membership to your member record.

Here are a few things to note for 2019:

  • Renew now to secure your member discount for our 2019 meetings. The 233rd meeting in Seattle, Washington, 6-10 January is fast approaching: early registration ends 27 September 2018, and abstracts are due 3 October. THIS JUST IN: Meet us in St. Louis, Missouri, for the 234th AAS meeting with our Laboratory Astrophysics and Solar Physics Divisions, 9-13 June 2019!
  • Following the successful launches last year of gold open access to the AAS journals and Research Notes of the AAS, 2019 heralds the return of the Bulletin of the AAS (BAAS)! The new, improved BAAS will feature opinion pieces and commentary from AAS members, proceedings from topical meetings such as Women in Astronomy, and more.
  • Stay on top of the latest funding news from Capitol Hill with the AAS Public Policy team. Budgeting season is upon us!
  • Renew before 31 December 2018 to get a one-time 15% discount on your share of the author charges for one paper published in the Astronomical Journal or the Astrophysical Journal family in 2019. BONUS: If you renew by 31 December for two years, you will receive the 15% discount on two papers: one each in 2019 and 2020!

Renewing early and online will save the Society resources — and it’s environmentally friendly because we won’t have to mail you any paper reminders.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the astronomical sciences and to the AAS!
