The National Radio Astronomy Observatory's 2018 Robert L. Brown Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award goes to Erin Cox for her dissertation “Probing Planetary Disks: From Birth to Protoplanets."

TED, the nonprofit dedicated to “Ideas Worth Spreading,” has announced the new class of TED Fellows, including three who work in the astronomical sciences: Federica Bianco, Erika Hamden, and Moriba Jah.

The Astronomical Society of the Pacific welcomes nominations for its awards recognizing excellence in astronomy research, instrument development, teaching, and public outreach. Deadline: 1 March.

The public nomination period for the $3 million 2020 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics is now open. Nominations may be submitted online through 1 April 2019.

Eight AAS members, including ApJ Letters editor Fred Rasio, are among the 416 distinguished scientists newly elected as Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Several young astronomers, including one AAS member, will receive the New Horizons in Physics Prize from the Breakthrough Prize Foundation for their work in gravitational-wave astronomy.

Nominations for the Gruber Foundation Cosmology Prize are invited annually from the fields of astronomy, cosmology, mathematics, and the philosophy of science. The 2019 Cosmology Prize deadline is 15 December.

Planetary scientist and AAS member Sarah Stewart (University of California, Davis) is one of 25 scientists, artists, writers, humanists, teachers, and entrepreneurs in the 2018 class of MacArthur Fellows.

Applications for the 2019 Robert L. Brown Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award are now being accepted from recent PhD recipients whose doctoral thesis is based on data from an AUI facility. Deadline: 31 December.

The Lecar Prize recognizes exceptional contributions to the study of extrasolar planets in particular and theoretical astrophysics in general. Nominations are now welcome. Deadline: 1 November 2018.
