The 232nd AAS meeting in Denver, Colorado, is still more than a month away, yet — believe it or not — planning for the 233rd AAS meeting is already well along. AAS 233 will be held in Seattle, Washington, 6-10 January 2019, and the AAS Executive Office and Vice-Presidents are eager to receive proposals for Special Sessions and Town Halls.

Special Sessions last 90 minutes and may be held on any of the four meeting days, in parallel with regular contributed-oral sessions. They're intended for current space missions and ground-based facilities whose representatives wish to highlight new results. Special sessions can be a series of talks, a panel discussion, or some other presentation format. AAS 233 Special Session proposals are due on 29 May 2018.

Town Halls are intended for federal agencies and national observatories to present policy information and to solicit feedback from their user communities. They last 1 hour and are typically scheduled at lunchtime, from 12:45 pm to 1:45 pm, or in the evening, from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, on any of the four meeting days (though generally not on the final evening). AAS 233 Town Hall proposals are due on 29 May 2018.

We'll call for Workshop and Splinter Meeting proposals later. The deadlines for those aren't until 6 August and 12 November, respectively.
