Results of the AAS Special Election

Voting for a new representative to the US National Committee for the International Astronomical Union (USNC/IAU) closed on 3 August. Sarah Gibson (National Center for Atmospheric Research/High Altitude Observatory) was elected to represent the AAS membership on the committee and will serve for three years. Sarah’s term begins in September; her candidate statement is available as a PDF.
Of the 6,057 members eligible to vote, 1,385 (22.9%) cast ballots. If you were one of these voters, thank you! If not, we hope you’ll exercise your right to vote in future elections — the 2022 AAS election will be here before you know it!
