International Travel Grant Deadline Extended

IAU XXX GA LogoThe deadline to apply for a National Science Foundation-funded AAS International Travel Grant has been extended from 5 January to 28 February 2018 to align with the deadline for the International Astronomical Union's self-funded travel-grant deadline.

The AAS and IAU have worked in partnership for many decades to provide support through parallel grant programs for astronomers to attend the IAU General Assemblies. The AAS program provides funding for airfare for US-based astronomers to attend the GA, while the IAU program provides limited funds to US-based astronomers for other costs of attendance. The IAU program also provides support to astronomers from around the world, not just from the US.

US-based astronomers may apply to both programs but should not request airfare support from the IAU program unless they decide not to apply to the US program. In past years we have been able to fund 85-90% of the applicants to our program. If you are planning to attend the XXX IAU General Assembly to be held 20-31 August 2018 in Vienna, Austria, consider applying to one or both grant programs by 28 February 2018.

The AAS program description and application form are available on the International Travel Grants page. The IAU program description and application form are available on the IAU website.
