International Travel Grant Application

AAS International Travel Grants, funded by the National Science Foundation, provide funding for airline travel to international science meetings. This funding is available only to individuals at US institutions, who need not be AAS members. Use this form to apply. Fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required.

Graduate students: You will need to upload a letter of recommendation from your advisor. If you don't have one yet, please ask your advisor for one, then return to this page to fill out this form.

Usually the entity listed on your pay stub; often the same as your institution.
Employees of the federal government [other than NSF] may be compensated for their travel expenses to attend a conference/workshop provided that prior written approval is obtained from their agency, including a statement that the travel is not expected to contributed directly to the mission of their agency. Under no circumstances may NSF employees be compensated under the AAS International Travel Grant Program.

For a multi-day meeting, please indicate both the start and end dates.
Please indicate the venue, city/town, state/province (if applicable), and country where the meeting will be held.
Please justify your need to attend and describe the activities in which you will participate (e.g., invited speaker, IAU Commission member, contributing paper).
Airline Information
Maximum allowable fare is economy rate round trip from nearest large airport.
You must fly on a US flag carrier if possible.
