Call for Applications: Science and Technology Definition Teams

Rita Sambruna NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

As part of preparations for the 2020 Astrophysics Decadal Survey, NASA is forming Science and Technology Definition Teams (STDTs) for the following four large mission concepts:

  • Far-IR Surveyor
  • Habitable-Exoplanet Imaging Mission
  • Large UV, Optical, and IR Surveyor
  • X-ray Surveyor

The main task of the STDTs will be to design compelling and feasible mission concepts for prioritization by the 2020 Astrophysics Decadal Survey, for the next large mission to follow the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) and the Wide Field Infrared Survey Telescope (WFIRST).

A call for applicationsĀ (PDF) to the STDTs was released on 6 January 2016. Applications to the four STDTs are due by 1 February 2016 to the NASA scientists listed in the call. If you are passionate about the future of astrophysics, and interested in contributing to shaping it, we want to hear from you!
