It's #GivingTuesday: Donations Make Astronomy Happen

Diane Frendak

Diane Frendak American Astronomical Society (AAS)

In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, here’s a reminder that your support makes astronomy happen. Donations to the AAS are used to promote the astronomical sciences by advancing student achievement, recognizing extraordinary service, and honoring outstanding research.

When reviewing your year-end giving opportunities, please consider making a tax-deductible year-end gift — whatever amount you might like to give to help us meet the goals ahead — to the funds, prizes, programs, and activities that have meaning to you. Contributions are not only welcome to support the Society, but also its six Divisions. Among the 50 or so funding choices, there is something for everyone.

With your direct help, the AAS publishes the leading research journals in our discipline, organizes the largest astronomical meetings in the world, and represents the interests of the professional astronomical community to policymakers in Washington, DC. The Society and its Divisions also offer professional development, travel and dependent-care grants, and a variety of other services to those working in the astronomical sciences. Your support, through your membership and your voluntary contributions, makes it all possible.

The AAS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, and all donations by US taxpayers are deductible under section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code. To contribute online, please go to https://members.aas.org and log in to your account. If you received a paper renewal form from us, several giving opportunities are included as part of the Society’s Fall 2015 Campaign.

Take a moment to make your tax-deductible gift today. Thank you!
