AAS Submits Comments on OMB Proposed Changes to Federal Grants

On 13 July 2026, the American Astronomical Society (AAS) submitted comments regarding the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB) proposal titled "Regulation for Federal Financial Assistance." The full comment can be found here.

AAS highlighted several proposed changes to the nature of grants and other forms of federal financial assistance that would negatively impact our members, as well as the organization and its ability to carry out its non-profit mission. In addition to the organization's comments, we believe that several hundred AAS members also submitted comments to the docket. We encourage anyone concerned by the proposed changes to contact their members of Congress and urge them to take action.
