Results of the 2026 AAS Election

Stephen Unwin AAS Secretary

The 2026 AAS Election began on 5 March 2026 and wrapped up on 20 April with votes submitted by 31% of the 5,871 members who were eligible to vote. Many thanks to everyone who participated!

The offices on the ballot included a Vice President and two At-Large members of the Board of Trustees, a representative of the AAS membership to the US National Committee of the International Astronomical Union (USNC/IAU), and two members of the Nominating Committee. These are all demanding jobs and our candidates were all eager to serve and make a significant contribution to our Society in these roles. The AAS only succeeds as a professional society through the hard work and determination of members such as these. Many thanks to all the candidates!

If you were one of those who voted, thank you! If not, we hope you’ll exercise your right to vote in future elections. Our Officers and Trustees help decide the Society's direction and goals, while the Nominating Committee prepares slates of candidates for our future Officers and Trustees. Members of the USNC/IAU represent US interests at the international level. The best way to ensure that your voice is heard is to participate in Society elections.

Below are this year’s winners; the new Vice President and At-Large Trustees will take office this summer; the USNC/IAU representative will join the committee in September; and the newly elected members of the Nominating Committee will begin their terms immediately!
