Out in Astronomy — A Panel Discussion

Yuzhe Robert Song Swinburne University of Technology

The College of Science at the University of Utah (UU) and the AAS Committee for Sexual-Orientation and Gender Minorities in Astronomy (SGMA) are hosting a panel discussion of LGBTIQ astronomers, moderated by UU Physics & Astronomy faculty Ramón Barthelemy.

SGMA members will discuss a broad perspective of being Out in Astronomy, Science, and Technology. Panelists will also address student questions such as: Should being LGBTIQ impact your choice of graduate school? Is graduate school worth the time and effort? Is there life after graduate school? What are my options, if I don’t want to become a university professor? AAS members and UU students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend.

This event was originally concurrent with the 239th meeting of the American Astronomical Society in Salt Lake City, now it is a virtual stand-alone event happening at 6:30-8:00 pm ET (4:30-6:00 pm MT) on Monday, 28 March.
