AIP Seeks Applicants for State Department Fellowship

American Institute of Physics

If you are an individual interested in the intersection of science, policy, and international affairs, American Institute of Physics (AIP) encourages you to apply for an AIP State Department Fellowship. The application deadline for the 2019-2020 term is 15 October 2018.

This fellowship aims to enhance the S&T capacity of the department by enabling a scientist or engineer to work at its headquarters in Washington, DC, for a one-year term. In turn, fellows will interact with policymakers and gain an understanding of the foreign policy process. Past AIP fellows have worked on topics as varied as nuclear weapons forensics, critical infrastructure protection, export controls, use of remote sensing imagery, and biotechnology.

The fellowship includes a $77,500 stipend, health insurance reimbursement, relocation funds, and a professional development allotment.

Application components include a letter of intent, resume, and three recommendation letters. All application materials, including reference letters, must be submitted by 15 October. Final interviews will take place in early 2019, and the 12-month fellowship term will begin in the fall of 2019. For complete information, please visit AIP’s fellowship program website.
