HabEx Community Meeting on Astrophysics

Paul Scowen NASA Goddard Space Flight Center

Science with HabEx

The Flatiron Institute will be hosting a Habitable Exoplanet Observatory (HabEx) community meeting on 15-16 October 2018 where community scientists are encouraged to present science they would do with HabEx.

This meeting will be the opportunity for community members to learn about the currently envisioned HabEx mission design and instrument suite and, more importantly, to participate in the further definition of HabEx science investigations and overall capabilities. We are seeking presentations of science investigations to be specifically conducted with HabEx instruments and in possible synergies of HabEx observations with data coming from other facilities or instruments.

HabEx is one of four concepts currently under study by NASA in preparation for the 2020 Astrophysics Decadal Survey. HabEx is designed to be the next-generation great observatory that has the capability to address physics of the cosmos, cosmic origins, solar system, and exoplanet science. HabEx is a space-based 4-meter diameter telescope with ultraviolet, optical, and near-infrared imaging and spectroscopy capabilities, and at least 50% of the primary five-year mission will be dedicated to community involvement through a competed and funded Guest Observer (GO) program.

To apply to give a presentation, abstract submissions are due by 7 September. The registration deadline to attend the meeting is 1 October.
