This announcement is posted on behalf of Jennifer Shirk (Citizen Science Association):

Citizen Science 2019 Conference LogoCitizen science is the involvement of the public in scientific research — whether community-driven research or global investigations. The Citizen Science Association (CSA) unites expertise from educators, scientists, data managers, and others to power citizen science. Join us, and help speed innovation by sharing insights across disciplines.

In 2019, we celebrate and explore the deep roots and broad branches that form the strong core of citizen science. Attendance and contributions are strongly encouraged from across the many disciplines where citizen science is advancing research.

Join us in the City of Oaks to connect with other leaders and learners from many backgrounds. We deepen our own work as we share our diverse perspectives and practices — no matter what we investigate or what we call our efforts. Bring your ideas and your questions to CitSci2019, and be a part of our growing family tree!

Raleigh, North Carolina, is a hotspot for citizen science, home of the environmental justice movement, and a city that proudly proclaims its theme of All Are Welcome Here. We are pleased to be planning events in partnership with a local host committee including the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, North Carolina State University, NC environmental justice organizations, and others.

Researchers, practitioners, and members of the broader citizen-science community are invited by the Citizen Science Association to submit proposals for workshops, symposia, and individual presentations, to be held at the CSA 2019 conference 13-17 March 2019 in Raleigh, NC.

The conference will primarily take place at the Raleigh Convention Center. For details on how to register, where to stay, and what to do while in Raleigh, see the CitSci2019 conference page.
