Moving Days for the AAS Executive Office

Kelly Clark American Astronomical Society (AAS)

As we announced in the 2 June News Digest, the AAS Executive Office is relocating to a new building in downtown Washington, DC. The AAS has leased office space from the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for over 30 years, but AGU’s planned building renovation would cause a multi-year disruption to the Society, negatively impacting AAS operations and our ability to serve our membership, Divisions, and partners.

We're very excited about our new office and the benefits it will bring to the AAS membership, including larger meeting space and improved technology. The building itself is certified LEED silver and we have repurposed or recycled as much from the previous offices as possible, as well as added features to the new space to further lower the Executive Office’s environmental footprint.

We will be moving the AAS servers to the new office on Sunday, 19 June, so as not to interrupt your use of the site during the workweek. From approximately 8:00 am to 1:00 pm ET that day, there may be disruptions to AAS-associated websites, such as the inability to login or search the member directory at aas.org.

The rest of the Executive Office will be moving the afternoon of Thursday, 23 June, through Friday, 24 June. As of 24 June, the mailing address for the Society will be:
American Astronomical Society
1667 K Street NW, Suite 800
Washington, DC 20006

Phone and fax numbers will stay the same. While the office will be open during the move, responses may be delayed as we become situated in our new space. Thank you for your patience. We are doing everything we can to minimize downtime and expect to be fully operational very quickly.
