AAS Nova, a 10-month-old site that highlights results published in the AAS's peer-reviewed journals, was awarded the Drum Online Media Award for Best Heath/Education News Site on 7 June at a ceremony in London. AAS Nova is a joint project of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) and the Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing, which also partner to produce the AAS journals. Dens Milne and Paul Matson from IOP Publishing were in attendance to accept the award.

AAS Nova was developed from idea to reality in less than six months. The site strives to share current astrophysical research published in the AAS journals, to simultaneously gain broader exposure for the authors’ exemplary work, and to provide astrophysics researchers and enthusiasts access to a stream of curated and digested current astrophysics research content. Published Highlights — brief, single-page summaries of the research and results — feature research articles that are selected because they are of particular importance or are of potential interest to a broad community.

Now in its sixth year, the Drum Online Media Awards "identify the cleverest, boldest, and most original purveyors of news and views from around the world." See the full list of 2016 award winners.
