Last Chance for 228th AAS Meeting Hotel Block and Online Registration

228th meeting of the AAS

The 228th meeting of the American Astronomical Society, held in conjunction with the Laboratory Astrophysics Division (LAD), is just over one month away! If you will be joining the AAS and your colleagues from across the country in San Diego, don't forget to reserve a hotel room at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront by Friday, 6 May, to ensure the discounted group rate. The hotel rates that the AAS has negotiated include many benefits for you and the AAS. Please stay at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, the chosen headquarters hotel for the summer meeting.

If you have yet to register for the meeting, you have until Monday, 16 May, to register online. Onsite registration will be available in San Diego, but at a higher rate, so register today to save! You don't want to miss out on the amazing speakers, sessions, and events that are planned for the summer meeting, including:

  • Plenary speakers discussing gravitational waves, fast radio bursts, computational cosmology, and more
  • Special sessions on the cosmic microwave background and the NASA K2 mission
  • Meetings-in-a-Meeting on Bridging Laboratory & Astrophysics, the Limits of Scientific Cosmology, and Small Telescope Research Communities of Practice
  • Town Halls with NASA, NSF, and a presentation on the final report of the astronomy & astrophysics mid-decadal assessment committee
  • The AAS Members' Meeting, your opportunity to raise and comment on issues of concern to you and the astronomical community, and to propose candidates to the Nominating Committee for election as AAS officers and councilors
  • And much, much more

The Exhibit Hall will feature an exciting new group of exhibitors, an outreach event for local middle- and high-school students (your organization can volunteer to help!), and more. See all of the exhibitors attending the summer meeting.

The 228th meeting of the AAS will be held in lively downtown San Diego. Located only minutes from the airport, San Diego's thriving downtown districts offer a plethora of options for activities, dining, and cultural attractions, all accessible by foot or by trolley. Modern and historic buildings stand side-by-side in the historic downtown Gaslamp District, which boasts shops and boutiques, trendy nightclubs, rooftop bars, and fine dining restaurants. The AAS, working with local venues, will provide discounts and giveaways to many downtown restaurants and attractions. Take a look at our San Diego Featured Local Hot Spots for more information.

We hope to see you there!
