A New Website for Gemini Users

Letizia Stanghellini NSF's NOIRLab

The US National Gemini Office is pleased to inaugurate its new website: http://ast.noao.edu/nssc/usngo

The main goal of the US Gemini office is to support US users of the twin Gemini telescopes in Hawaii and Chile during all phases of the astronomical observing cycle, from proposal preparation through data analysis. We designed the website as a portal to the information you will need in navigating these phases.

The main page includes the "News" section that we will keep current by posting Gemini instrument news and highlights, Gemini-related deadlines, conference announcements, and other relevant links.

Under "Gemini Science Instruments and data reduction links" you will find links to pages discussing various aspects of data reduction from general information ("Overview"), to data-archive instructions, to pages with data-analysis instructions for all active instruments. These pages contain links to either the Gemini website or cookbooks/instructions that have been formally published or presented in meetings sponsored by Gemini and/or the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO). Please note that this is a work in progress and that we will add more materials/cookbooks/modes in the future.

Other sections on the main page include "Proposal preparation sites," with links to current calls for proposals and the Gemini Helpdesk, and a "Post-data acquisition sites" section with links to the Gemini Archive, publications, and frequently asked questions (FAQ).

The pages are all active and evolving. This is an initial take on a reorganization of "all things Gemini" for our users. Your suggestions, comments, links, references to published papers, and corrections are all very welcome at any time. Please email any of us with your comments.
