Call for White Papers: Committee on Exoplanet Science Strategy

ExoplanetsThe Committee on an Exoplanet Science Strategy, chaired by David Charbonneau (Harvard University) and Scott Gaudi (Ohio State University), has been chartered by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to carry out a study on the science strategy for the field of extrasolar planets. The committee will survey the status of the field, recommend a future science strategy, discuss ways in which the strategy can be addressed by current priorities and activities, and identify possible opportunities for coordination with international, commercial, and not-for-profit partners.

The committee is requesting community input on these topics in the form of white papers. White papers are due by 11:59:59 ET on 9 March 2018.

Please note that multiple authorship accurately reflecting a consensus among many individuals is strongly encouraged. Everyone in the research communities associated with exoplanets, astrobiology, and related fields is encouraged to author or collaborate on these papers. Please respect that the committee has a short time to evaluate a potentially large number of white papers. A well-argued, concise paper will make the strongest impression. Use specific examples from your own experience, cite specific policies that impact you, use numbers, etc., wherever possible.

The submission page, the call for white papers (which includes a detailed description and instructions), and the white papers already submitted can be found on the National Academies website. Some of this information is also available below under RESOURCES.

Questions on the process can be submitted to [email protected].
