Job Description

The Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute (KASI) and Yonsei University invite applications for postdoctoral research associates. The positions are initially for 2 years and could be renewed for another two years based on the mid-term evaluation. Qualified applicants are those who earned their Ph.D. within the past 5 years (starting date is within 5 years of receiving their Ph.D.) or those who will obtain their Ph.D. before the appointment date. The postdoctoral offices will be mainly on the Seoul campus of Yonsei University.

We welcome applicants from all fields of astronomy and astrophysics, while some preference will be given to those who have interests in (1) observations of galaxies and  (2) galaxy formation and evolution including galaxy clusters and environmental studies, low-surface brightness phenomena, and numerical simulations, or (3) any other fields that are active in both KASI and Yonsei astronomy department.

* Korean applicants must have completed mandatory military service or received an exemption, and must be eligible to travel abroad.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The pay grade will be determined based on experience and performance. An appropriate research fund is available for travel, publication fee, and equipment.
