AAS Editor in Chief Search

Following the announcement of Ethan Vishniac's upcoming retirement at the end of Summer 2027, the AAS is conducting an open search for a new AAS Editor in Chief responsible for ensuring the continued excellence of the AAS journals portfolio.
The job ad has been posted in the AAS Job Register and a search committee has been convened comprising Publications Committee members, current and past members of the AAS Board of Trustees (BoT), and others with editorial or professional experience in scientific publishing:
- Marcel Agüeros (Chair), Columbia University, AAS President-Elect
- Robert Kennicutt, University of Arizona and Texas A&M University, AAS Publications Committee Member
- Smadar Naoz, University of California Los Angeles, AAS Journals Scientific Editor
- Joel Parriott, AAS Interim CEO, AAS Deputy Executive Officer and Director of Public Policy
- Lisa Prato, Northern Arizona University, AAS BoT At-Large Trustee and Publications Committee BoT Liaison
