Apply for the 2016 Gruber Foundation Fellowship

Through funding from The Gruber Foundation (TGF), the International Astronomical Union (IAU) awards one fellowship each year to a promising young astrophysicist. The award includes $50,000 to cover travel, subsistence, and research expenses to supplement a postdoctoral position.

Applicants may be working in theoretical, observational, or experimental astrophysics and must be in the final months of a PhD program with a confirmed postdoctoral position lined up, or a postdoc in the first year of an appointment. For PhD students, the PhD must be received by the start of the Gruber Foundation Fellowship (1 October 2016). The host institution for the postdoctoral position must be located in a different country than where the PhD was awarded or, for applicants beginning their second postdoc, a country different from where their current postdoctoral appointment is being completed.

The TGF Fellowship can be held in conjunction with any other fellowship or award. Applications from around the world will be accepted, and while the primary consideration for the applications will be scientific quality, preference will be given to applicants from countries in difficult economic conditions.

For more information and application instructions, visit the TGF Fellowship Program site. Applications are due 31 March.
