AAS Seeks Volunteer to Join the APS Science Trust Project Ambassadors

Are you an astronomer (or astronomy student) who is passionate about growing your public engagement skills? Are you interested in supporting your local colleagues in building trusting relationships with the public, bringing science into closer conversation with society? If so, please consider applying by 1 December to represent the AAS in the APS Science Trust Project Ambassadors.
This is a two-part application. To apply, please complete both of the following steps:
- Fill out this form to express interest in being an AAS representative on the APS Science Trust Project;
- Apply to the APS Science Trust Project Ambassadors.
The shared deadline for these two steps is 1 December 2025.
Eligibility
We are seeking an AAS member with a demonstrated interest in public engagement and trust-building who is willing to participate fully in the APS Science Trust Project Ambassadors, as well as report back to the AAS Education Committee and the wider AAS community on what they have learned.
Deliverables
In addition to the deliverables expected of all APS Science Trust Project Ambassadors, we will request the following from the AAS-endorsed Ambassador:
- 10–15 min share-out at an AAS Education Committee meeting with key takeaways and one actionable idea for AAS implementation.
- 600–800 word blog post for the AAS Education Committee Blog summarizing skills learned and how astronomy educators can apply them.
