Education Sessions and Outreach Activities at AAS 246
Tom Rice American Astronomical Society (AAS)
On behalf of the AAS Executive Office, I’m looking forward to welcoming you to Anchorage for the 246th meeting of the American Astronomical Society! I’ve worked with the AAS Education Committee to compile the following schedule of nearly everything focused on astronomy education, outreach, and some adjacent topics at the Anchorage meeting. Please also feel free to browse the full meeting program here: AAS 246 Block Schedule.
Especially consider joining us for the informal Astronomy Educators Gathering on Monday night, 9 June, 7:30–9:00 pm at the nearby 49th State Brewing. This is an off-site social gathering at a restaurant/brewery (we'll pay our own way). Come to meet members of the AAS Education Committee and network with fellow astronomy educators! Optionally RSVP here.
Please also join us for an outreach event at the Anchorage Museum on Tuesday, 10 June, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. The AAS Education Committee is partnering with the Anchorage Museum during their Lunch on the Lawn event and will be hosting a Sun observation table with solar telescopes and hands-on activities for the general public and curious minds of all ages. There will be live music, food trucks, dogs, and more! You can find more information about the event on the museum’s website. In the event of poor weather, activities will be moved indoors. If you are interested in volunteering for this event or have any further questions, please reach out to Waylon Troyer by 5 June.
