Welcome to Colin Hamill, John N. Bahcall Public Policy Fellow

The American Astronomical Society (AAS) is pleased to welcome Colin Hamill to the staff as the next John N. Bahcall Public Policy Fellow, starting 8 January 2025.

Colin recently earned a PhD in Planetary Science from Purdue University, studying the scattering properties of exoplanet clouds through laboratory and modeling endeavors. He became interested in science policy shortly into graduate school. As a member of the Division for Planetary Sciences’ Federal Relations Subcommittee, he has been active in advocating for planetary science over the last three years. He participated in the Science Policy Colloquium hosted by the American Meteorological Society and has also served as President of his departmental Graduate Student Association and as a Senator of the Purdue Graduate Student Government. He earned a BS in Physics from Towson University and worked an extended internship at the Applied Physics Laboratory. He has research experience in a range of topics in the space sciences, from solar system objects to the circumgalactic medium. He was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. He is excited to be closer to home and even more excited to begin a new chapter as the Bahcall Fellow.
