Education Committee Requests Information About Undergraduate Astronomy Programs
Katherine Follette Amherst College
Dear colleagues,
We at the AAS Education Committee are compiling information about the landscape of astronomy and astrophysics undergraduate programs in the United States. Our goal is to understand the breadth and depth of undergraduate curricula and degree requirements nationally. We aim to use this information to compile a report about the landscape of undergraduate astronomy and astrophysics majors. You may indicate at the end of the survey whether you would like to receive a copy of that report. No institutions will be singled out by name in that report.
While we recognize that many astronomers receive degrees in physics, planetary science, etc., for the purposes of this study, we are specifically interested in degrees that specifically require astronomy and/or astrophysics coursework.
We anticipate that the survey should take you approximately 5-10 minutes to complete. Thank you very much for your time in supporting this effort.
Sincerely,
The AAS Education Subcommittee on Undergraduate Major and Graduate Astrophysics Education
