Nominations Open for 2022 ASP Awards

The Astronomical Society of the Pacific (ASP) is accepting nominations for the organization’s national annual awards which recognize special achievements in astronomy research, technology, education, and public outreach. Nominations for the 2022 awards will be accepted through 15 March 2022. More information, nomination instructions, and past recipients can be found on the ASP Annual Awards page.

The following awards are currently accepting nominations:

  • The Catherine Wolfe Bruce Gold Medal, awarded for a lifetime of outstanding research in astronomy.
  • The Robert J. Trumpler Award, awarded for a recent PhD thesis considered unusually important to astronomy.
  • The Klumpke-Roberts Award recognizes those who have made outstanding contributions to the public understanding and appreciation of astronomy.
  • The Arthur B. C. Walker II Award is presented to an outstanding African-American (or member of the African Diaspora) who works in the areas of astronomy (including astronomy, astrophysics, space, and related sciences) as a recognized leader in efforts to diversify the scientific community.
  • The Richard A. Emmons Award celebrates outstanding achievement in the teaching of college-level introductory astronomy for non-science majors.
  • The Gordon Meyers Amateur Achievement Award recognizes significant significant observational or technical achievements by an amateur astronomer.
  • The Las Cumbres Amateur Outreach Award honors outstanding educational outreach by an amateur astronomer to children and the public.
