NSF Releases Dear Colleague Letter on Arecibo Observatory

In 2012 the Portfolio Review Committee of the National Science Foundation's Division of Astronomical Sciences (AST) recommended that the NSF AST’s involvement in Arecibo Observatory be re-evaluated later in the decade. That re-evaluation is currently under way.
As part of the re-evaluation process, NSF has released a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) requesting community responses on viable concepts for the future continued operation of Arecibo Observatory. NSF encourages community members to review the DCL carefully and to submit viable concepts before the deadline of 31 December 2015.
