Job Description

The Center for Space and Astro-Informatics in Ariel University (AU) https://www.ariel.ac.il/wp/agas/research invites excellent candidates to apply for a unique Postdoctoral Fellowship.

The applicants will have their own research plan, and may choose to work on a joint research project with the faculty members of the center:

  • Lev Tal-Or – Planet detection by means of Doppler spectroscopy, stellar activity and its impact on exoplanets, and transiting-planet characterization.
  • Amit Kashi – Massive stars, transient eruptions, binary interaction, stellar winds and wind collision, hydrodynamical simulations.
  • Dafne Guetta – Multi-messenger astronomy, Gamma ray bursts, AGN, nova eruption, gravitational waves, neutrino astrophysics, and Astro-particles.
  • Ido Ben-Dayan – Cosmology, physics of the early Universe, Gravitational Waves, Semiclassical gravity
  • Yuval Reuveni – Space weather monitoring and forecasting using ground and space based measurements.
  • Asher Yahalom – Retarded gravity and the dark matter problem up to galaxy cluster scales.

Requirements:

  • PhD in Physics, Computer Science, Astrophysics, Astronomy, or equivalent, obtained NOT before September 01, 2019.

  • Advanced computing skills, experience in code development and using advanced computational tools.

  • High motivation, problem solving skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one of the following:

  • Working and analyzing large amounts of observational or computational data.

  • Running or analyzing large-volume simulations.

3. Curriculum Vitae, including a list of academic publications.
4. Dissertation Abstract – Up to one page.
5. PhD Certificate (to be submitted in English only) – In case it's not available yet, one can submit a certificate from the PhD granting institution, stating that the dissertation work has been submitted.
6. Research Plan – Please describe the proposed research plan in up to 3 pages (excluding references). The plan should emphasize why the candidate wishes to carry out the research with the researcher they chose at AU.
