Faculty positions in astrophysics

The Department of Astronomy at Tsinghua University invites applications for two tenure-track / tenured positions starting on September 1, 2025. One position will be in high-energy astrophysics, with preference given to observers with expertise in transient sources, who can make effective use of the Einstein Probe, SVOM, and/or HXMT, along with other observing facilities. The other position will be in the broad areas of astrophysics in observations, theory or instrumentation, with preference given to exoplanets, radio astronomy, star formation, stellar astrophysics, survey science, multi-messenger astronomy, and machine-learning applications.

Tsinghua University is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, and is also highly ranked internationally. It is presently undergoing a major expansion in its astrophysics program. The current research in the Department of Astronomy spans a wide range of topics, including cosmology, galaxy formation and evolution, high energy astrophysics, gravitational wave astrophysics, exoplanets and planet formation, and radio astronomy. In addition, the faculty members are involved in developing instrumentation for X-ray satellite missions and ground-based facilities. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related field. A complete application should include a CV, a list of publications, and a statement of previous and future research.
