Job Description

Profs. Jan Cami and Els Peeters at the Department of Physics & Astronomy and the Institute for Earth and Space Exploration at The University of Western Ontario are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position.

The successful candidate will lead the analysis and modeling of infrared spectroscopic data obtained with the JWST to investigate Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs), fullerenes, other molecules, and dust species in diverse galactic and extragalactic environments.

Applicants must hold a PhD in astrophysics or a closely related field and should have experience with the analysis of observational data. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong background in infrared astronomy, molecular spectroscopy or astrochemistry, and experience with JWST data reduction and analysis. Prior research experience with PAHs or fullerenes is desirable but not required.

The position is for a period of two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year based on performance and continued funding. The start date is flexible but may be as early as July 1, 2025.
