Cosmological hydrodynamical simulations with modified gravity
Job Summary
Paris
France
Job Description
Project Overview:
The 2024-2028 ANR project ProGraceRay (PRObing GRAvity at Cosmological scalEs with relativistic RAY-tracing) aims at investigating robust probes of the nature of gravity at cosmological scales thanks to a suite of dedicated large cosmological simulations. The project involves 4 main participating institutes IAP/Sorbonne University (Paris), LUX/Paris Observatory (Meudon), AIM/CEA (Saclay) and LAM/Aix-Marseille University (Marseille). This job announcement concerns the second postdoctoral position (out of three) about cosmological hydrodynamical simulations in modified gravity.
Position Description:
The IAP is inviting applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position in numerical cosmology. The starting date is expected any time between May 1st 2025 and December 1st 2025. The selected candidate will conduct a suite of large hydrodynamical cosmological simulations of modified gravity (on French and European supercomputers). They will explore the effect of baryons and their influence with modified gravity on large-scale structures. Additionally, the candidate will build HOD models from to populate large volumes N-body simulations of modified gravity. Such work is key for the interpretation of ongoing and future surveys such as Euclid, DESI and LSST.
Qualification:
We are looking for highly motivated candidates with strong numerical skills and experience in cosmological hydrodynamical simulations and/or modified gravity. Candidates should possess, or be near completion of, a relevant PhD.
Salary & Benefits:
The salary for this position ranges from €32,400 to €46,800 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, this includes medical insurance coverage, paid vacations, and available travel funds.
