Postdoctoral position in galaxy / black hole evolution with JWST (m/f/d)
Job Code: 24/2024
The Max Planck Institute for extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) invites applications for a postdoctoral position to join the research group led by Dr. Hannah Übler and funded by the European Research Council (ERC) Project APEX. We are looking for candidates with a background in high-redshift galaxy observations. Additional experience in the theoretical modelling of high-redshift galaxies and/or supermassive black holes is welcome. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with data from JWST/NIRSpec-IFS GO and GTO programmes, focussing on the spatially-resolved properties of galaxies in the first billion years, and their supermassive black holes.
The position can be started at any time between early 2025 and October 2025 (to be negotiated).
The position is limited to two years according to current German labor law. Applicants must have obtained a doctorate in astronomy or a related field before starting the position.
