In this exciting new role as ASTRONOMY ENGINEER, you will collaborate with the US-based Research Sales Team to identify and call on Key Opinion Leaders in the field of Astronomy, at Government Institutes, private industry concerns and within the University research setting, where you will assist with our equipment and promote Andor’s portfolio of scientific sensors appropriate to the various applications in this discipline.
THE ROLE:
- Generate, qualify and manage all sales leads, prospects and new customer accounts to meet/exceed agreed team and individual sales objectives.
- Manage existing or future channel partners and End User customer relationships to facilitate sales. Strengthen existing customer relationships and develop new business relationships within The Americas.
- Participate in Commercial Execution Team activities to assist Product Management in defining and implementing sales and marketing strategies for each product and service in the Astronomy portfolio.
- Evaluate product and service offering in terms of customers’ technical needs.
- Maintain and report sales forecasts, potential sales, customer feedback and activity plan and other reports as required.
- Provide training to both channel partners and end-users.
- Establish and maintain strong industry contacts that support both industry knowledge and lead to sales.
THE PERSON:
- Higher degree or equivalent in an experimental Astro Physics; Astronomy, or Physics.
- Desired experience in the field of Optical instrumentation is a plus.
- Strong technical knowledge of Astronomy and the challenges in the field required. (Recent Phd graduates will be considered.)
- Takes ownership of customer problems and issues, works to resolve them and see them through to resolution.
- Establishes relationships with customers and strengthens this through clarity and competence.
- Has a positive attitude that fosters a pro-active ethos in the rest of the team and department.
- Creates a climate in which people want to do their best.
- To meet the unique needs of our Astronomy clients, the ability to travel at least 60% of the time with 40% of that time being overnight travel is required. International travel is also required.
