Lecturer in Physics

The Department of Physics at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM) seeks outstanding candidates for a full-time (possibly including summers) Lecturer position. This is not intended to be a temporary instructor position: It is an academic staff position with the possibility of transitioning to permanent status through a process analogous to tenure.

The primary responsibilities of the position will be teaching undergraduate physics (and possibly Astronomy) at several levels (75%). This will include a rotating array of elementary courses for non-science majors, service courses for science and engineering majors, and upper-level courses for physics majors. In addition, the duties will include supervising our Graduate Teaching Assistants who teach our undergraduate instructional lab classes (25%).

Candidates must have a Master’s degree in Physics, or Physics Education, or a related field such as Astronomy. In addition, the candidates must show evidence of teaching experience. A possible preference will be given to those candidates with a PhD and/or more extensive teaching experience.
