How do you tell the story of an evolving universe?

The DYNAVERSE – Our Dynamic Universe Cluster of Excellence investigates the physical processes that shape the Universe across an enormous range of timescales—from phenomena on the order of milliseconds to cosmic evolution spanning billions of years. Our goal is to understand the connections between these processes and to gain a consistent overall picture of the evolving cosmos—a “film of the dynamic Universe,” so to speak. At the same time, it is a central concern of ours to make this research visible beyond the scientific community and to share its fascination with a broad public..

Your Tasks/ Responsibilities: You will shape the communication of a leading international research project - strategically, creatively, and operationally.

• Development and implementation of a clear communication strategy for DYNAVERSE 
• Conceiving and executing communication campaigns 
• Editing and producing high-quality content (text, images, video) 
• Conceiving, managing, and further developing the online presence (website and social media) 
• Press releases on current research topics 
• Support and advising of researchers on communication and outreach activities 
• Planning and coordination of events for both scientific and public audiences as well as collaboration with schools and external partner organizations 
• Coordination with the central outreach and communication offices of the participating institutions.

Your Profile: 

• University degree (Master’s or PhD) in astrophysics or physics. A doctoral degree is welcome but not required. Candidates from other natural science disciplines, as well as candidates with a background in scientific journalism, science communication or equivalent documented qualifications, are also encouraged to apply. 
• Experience in science communication or science journalism (e.g., through an internship or relevant professional experience) 
• Excellent command of language, storytelling, and the ability to tailor communication to specific audiences
• Ability to present complex content in a clear and engaging manner
• Excellent command of German and English 
• Initiative, creativity, and a passion for working in an international environment
