Job Description

We are looking to hire a highly qualified and motivated computational scientist whose primary responsibility will be to provide information technology support for the DTM astronomy group, but who is also willing and capable to support the scientific endeavors of the group. The ideal candidate will work in collaboration with other departmental IT staff and should have experience in at least some subset of the following areas: Local Area Networking, Virtualized Infrastructure, Systems Administration (Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, Linux), and Active Directory. In addition, programming skills are desired in the areas of shell scripting, Fortran, C, Python, and/or Perl. Familiarity with IRAF and IDL is also a plus. We hope to find an individual who is excited about the opportunity to also provide scientific support for DTM astronomy group efforts, such as exoplanet, outer solar system, and circumstellar disk observations, and planet formation modeling (seeĀ DTM's Astronomy and Astrophysics web page). Preference will be given to candidates with undergraduate and/or graduate degree(s) in the physical sciences, though those with computational science degrees will also be considered.

A C.V., cover letter containing a statement of interest in the position, and the names of three people who can be contacted for letters of recommendation should be submitted through the "Apply Now" link by 1 July 2017. Address any questions you have to [email protected].
