The Observational Cosmology Laboratory of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center invites expressions of interest in a position as a civil service research astrophysicist in the area of near-infrared detector research and development. The successful candidate will lead or contribute to the development of advanced near-infrared astronomical detectors and instrumentation for use on space-based telescopes. In addition, the successful candidate will conduct a program of astronomical research relevant to the science objectives of current or future space telescopes, publish in the refereed literature and lead or contribute to proposals for new scientific investigations.
Desired qualifications include a PhD degree and a scientific publication record in astrophysics, physics and/or astronomical instrumentation. Interest at the junior or senior level is welcomed; the appointment will be made at a level commensurate with the successful applicant’s experience.
