The Theoretical High-Energy Astrophysics (THEA) group at the Columbia University invites applications for a position as Associate Research Scientist in the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory. The successful candidates will conduct independent and collaborative research under the guidance of Professors Andrei Beloborodov, Zoltan Haiman, Yuri Levin, Brian Metzger and Lorenzo Sironi. This includes travel funds and access to high-performance computational facilities. Detailed information on THEA group at Columbia University, can be found at https://thea.astro.columbia.edu. The expected start date is on or around September 1, 2023. The initial appointment is for one year, with renewal for up to two additional years, contingent upon satisfactory performance and continuation of funding.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Physics or Astronomy or related field, by the date of the appointment and are expected to work well independently and cooperatively with a team.
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The salary range listed represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
