Job Description
The Theoretical and Computational Astrophysics (TCA) Thematic Group at the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) Physics Division, Taiwan, invites applications for several Postdoctoral Research Associates (PRA) in all areas of theoretical and computational astrophysics. Applicants interested in 1) dark matter and cosmology, 2) galaxy formation and evolution, 3) multi-messenger astrophysics, and 4) star and planet formation are particularly welcome.
NCTS is a government-supported initiative to foster research in theoretical sciences by bringing together expertise across Taiwanese institutions. It is headquartered at National Taiwan University in downtown Taipei City. Core members include Yueh-Ning Lee (NTNU), Min-Kai Lin (ASIAA), Kuo-Chuan Pan (NTHU), Hsi-Yu Schive (NTU), Wei-Ling Tseng (NTNU), Hsiang-Yi Karen Yang (NTHU), and Hwei-Jang Yo (NCKU). For further information, including a complete list of affiliated members, see the TCA website.
The PRA is free to conduct independent research on any topic and is encouraged to collaborate with TCA members. CPU and GPU computational resources from member institutes are available to the PRA. These include the CICA cluster at NTHU, the Eureka cluster at NTU, the CCC cluster at NTNU, the TIARA cluster at ASIAA, and ASGC at Academia Sinica. TCA also has access to the National Center for High-performance Computing.
NCTS PRAs normally last for one year and are renewable for a second and a third year, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability. The nominal starting date is September 1, 2025, but this is flexible; earlier dates are possible by a few months. The salary will be commensurate with the applicant’s research experience. Moderate travel and research funds are available. Economy-class, one-way airfare will be supported for relocation. Taiwan provides excellent universal health insurance.
