Job Description
The Observational Cosmology Group at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position. We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated researchers to join our dynamic team and conduct cutting-edge astrophysics research in collaboration with Prof. Tomo Goto.
This position offers an ideal environment for career development, featuring zero teaching or administrative duties, allowing the successful applicant to focus entirely on their research. However, for candidates looking to build a competitive academic portfolio, opportunities to co-supervise students or gain teaching experience are gladly supported.
Key Research Areas
Candidates will have the opportunity to work on leading international and local datasets, focusing on (but not limited to) the following fields:
- JWST Science: Studies of high-redshift galaxies, Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs), dust properties, and brown dwarfs.
- Fast Radio Bursts (FRBs): High-impact research utilizing data from Taiwan’s dedicated BURSTT telescope array.
- Investigations into Planet 9 utilizing AKARI and other major astronomical datasets.
Position Details & Environment
- Appointment Term: Funding is securely guaranteed until July 2028. Extensions beyond this period are subject to the availability of future funding.
- Language Environment: English is the official working language at the Institute of Astronomy. Fluency in Chinese is not required; dedicated administrative assistants are available to fully support international researchers with local logistics and translation.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in astronomy, physics, or a closely related field by the start date of the appointment.
- A strong track record or demonstrated potential in independent research.
