The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa is seeking a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2019-2020 academic year, with the possibility of renewal (up to a maximum of three years) pending collegiate approval and demonstration of excellence in teaching.
The successful candidate will teach large-enrollment courses in introductory astronomy and introductory physics. The normal teaching load, contingent upon enrollments, is four courses per year (at least a minimum of 12 s.h.). Required qualifications include a Ph.D. in physics, astronomy, or a related discipline (which must be in hand by the time of appointment), a strong commitment to effective teaching and mentoring students, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to working towards a welcoming and inclusive environment.
