Job Description

McDonald Observatory seeks a Communications Manager responsible for producing compelling written content about astronomy research and operations of McDonald Observatory for multiple digital and print platforms, organizing and executing press releases, and managing media requests and filming projects for the observatory and Department of Astronomy. This exciting role provides opportunities to communicate science to a broad and growing audience with the goal of increasing visibility and awareness of McDonald Observatory research capabilities, scientific achievements, educational excellence, and public outreach activities. This position requires five years of experience. Finalists will be asked to provide writing samples, marketing materials, or publications at time of interview. Finalists may also be asked to demonstrate editing skills. McDonald Observatory is part of The University of Texas at Austin. This position is based in Austin, Texas. All positions are security sensitive; conviction verification conducted on applicant selected.
