Job Description

The Institute of Astrophysical Studies (IEA) of Universidad Diego Portales is looking to hire at least one faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The requirements are a Ph.D. in astronomy or a closely related field and a demonstrated ability and commitment to excellence in independent research. Experience in leading research groups, managing grants, and a high publication rate are desirable. 

The successful candidate will join a young and vibrant astronomy group of 11 faculty, 12 postdocs, and a Ph.D. program with ~20 students working on a broad range of research topics, ranging from the Solar System to the early Universe. The position is open to all areas of observational, experimental, and theoretical astrophysics and carries teaching duties in astronomy at the graduate and undergraduate level, with a load of no more than two courses per year. 

The successful candidate will have access to 10% of the observing time in all international observatories in Chile, including ALMA, VLT, Gemini, Magellan, SDSS-V, CTIO, SOAR and other telescopes, as well as access to future facilities such as the Vera Rubin Observatory, E-ELT, GMT, and CTA-South. The position provides a competitive salary and benefits.
