Postdoctoral Researcher in High-Redshift Extragalactic Astronomy

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Associate research position to work at York University in Toronto, Canada, with Professor Adam Muzzin. The candidate will conduct research related to galaxy formation and evolution at high redshift using data from the JWST MINERVA Treasury survey (see minerva.colorado.edu).  MINERVA targets four extragalactic deep fields with NIRCam medium-band and MIRI imaging.  The applicant will work on the creation and analysis of 2D resolved stellar population maps of galaxies, particularly extreme emission line galaxies and low-metallicity populations.  All candidates are welcome to apply, however, preference will be given to candidates with previous experience with JWST data/analysis.  In particular, the following skills would be an asset

- Multi-band spectral energy distribution fitting
- Resolved photometry analysis
- Experience with low-metallicity stellar population codes such as Yggdrasil

The successful applicant will have access to other related datasets such as the CANUCS GTO survey as well as Euclid legacy data.  Approximately 50% of the position is available for self-directed research.  The candidate will have excellent access to research funds for computing, travel and publishing. 

The expected start date is between late 2026 or early 2027, but can be immediately.  The appointment will be for an initial period of two years, with renewal for a third year contingent on progress and funding.
