Job Description
We invite applications from exceptionally talented students planning a PhD in astrophysics or cosmology for PhD scholarships at the University of Melbourne.
The University of Melbourne is engaged in cutting edge research in observational and theoretical astrophysics, cultural and Indigenous astronomy, high energy astrophysics and transients, state of the art simulations of the Universe, LIGO gravitational wave analysis, numerical GR, high-redshift galaxies, cosmic microwave background, and 21 cm observations. The group has an active space astronomy and instrumentation program, with heritage in orbit from the SpIRIT satellite and active projects in infrared remote sensing, space domain awareness and thermal control systems. The group also hosts a node of the OzGrav2 research centre.
The scholarships come with a tax-free stipend of AUD$39,500/yr (in 2026) for 3.5 years.
